Hidden in La Candelaria's maze of colonial streets, Biestrela has been making Bogotá's best empanadas for over 30 years. The recipe is unchanged: masa made fresh each morning, filled with papa criolla and beef picadillo, fried to order. Order a dozen with ají verde and an agua de panela. The communal tables fill with students, artists, and politicians alike.

Absolutely incredible experience. One of the best places I've visited in Colombia. The atmosphere, the food, everything was perfect.
